Real Hardwood Flooring

Real hardwood flooring simply looks elegant. Real hardwood flooring also looks expensive, but it doesn’t have to be if you shop at Peak Auctioneering.

Elegant and traditional real hardwood flooring has always been valued for its color and durability. You can select from prefinished or unfinished Brazilian Cherry, Brazilian Walnut, Royal Mahogany or Tigerwood.

Engineered hardwood flooring comes in a wide range of finishes from oak and red oak flooring to walnut flooring, mahogany flooring, Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring and many others. With pre-finished hardwood you do not need to worry about using wood stain or paint like you would if you purchased unfinished wood. Real hardwood flooring is a beautiful and unique product of nature, which is characterized by distinctive variations in grain and color. These natural variations in color and grain are not flaws, but are a part of the natural beauty and uniqueness of hardwood flooring. (These inherent variations should be expected and serve to enhance the natural beauty and enduring charm.) Real hardwood flooring is manufactured in accordance with accepted industry standards, which permit a defect tolerance not to exceed 5%. The defects may be of a manufacturing or natural type.

When you install real hardwood flooring as a do-it-yourself project, it’s important to remember how to care for your floor after the installation is successfully complete. Here are a few tips for ensuring your real hardwood flooring continues to look as good as it did when it was installed:

  • Use a cloth to blot up spills and spots as soon as they happen. For tough spots such as oil, paint, markers, lipstick, ink, tar or cigarette marks, use acetone/nail polish remover then wipe with a damp cloth. Always avoid allowing liquids to stand on your floor.
  • Vacuum (using the hard floor attachment), dust mop or sweep the floor to minimize abrasive grit and dirt.
  • Periodically clean the floor with a Hardwood Flooring Cleaner, which is specially formulated for factory finished floors.
  • Do not use oil based, wax, polish or strong ammoniated or abrasive cleaners, steel wool or scouring powder to clean the floor.
  • Do not over-wax real hardwood flooring. If the floor dulls, try buffing instead. Avoid wax buildup under furniture and other light traffic areas by applying wax in these spots every other waxing session.
  • Do not wash or wet-mop the floor with soap, water, oil soap detergent or any other liquid cleaning material. This could cause swelling and warping.
  • Do not use any type of buffing machine.
